Traditions and Folklore
The Local group Holzhockar
There are a lot of folk customs and usages that the inhabitants of Sappada have handed down during the centuries. Among these, the carnival (vosenocht, in the local language)), with its celebrations and masks, and the folklore with the music and dances of the local folk group Holzhockar "woodcutters". They are particularly heartfelt. The folk group is made up of about 30 people, dancers and musicians. The group revives the traditions of the past and enlivens the festivals of the village with its performances.
