Come and visit us, you will enjoy a unique experience!In the middle of the eastern Dolomites, ( 1250-2693 meters above the sea level) the wide and sunny valley of Sappada / Plodn extends lengthwise, following the course of the river Piave, that has here its source at the foot of Mount Peralba. Sappada is placed in a rather singular position, on the borders with the region of Veneto (Santo Stefano di Cadore), Friuli Venezia Giulia (Forni Avoltri and Prato Carnico) and with Austria (Kartisch, Tilliach and Maria Luggau). From these contacts and influences it derives its peculiar history, language, architecture and culture.
The village is surrounded by a wonderful mountain chain that embraces a large area of wood, meadows and fields. In the centre of the valley there is the build-up area with its typical buildings, which show a variety of styles and architectures from different historical periods. Though the passing of the time the inhabitants of the valley have kept unchanged most of the original cultural traditions, which represents Sappada's peculiarity.
